This release is about never losing your comic, plus Bangla that looks right everywhere.
🛡️Your work is safe
- Two tabs can no longer erase each other. If the same comic is open in two tabs and one tab saves, the other tab doesn't overwrite it. Instead, it pauses and asks which version to keep. A tab you weren't using quietly shows the newer version when you come back to it.
- A saved comic that can't be opened is kept, not replaced. Before, a blank page could be saved over it. Now it's set aside, and the message lets you download it. If the browser can't read its storage at all, autosave stays off for that visit.
- Opening a file asks first if you have work open, and offers to save a copy. After opening, Undo in the message brings back the comic you had.
- Damaged project files can't half-load.
- A file is checked before anything changes.
- Missing parts get safe defaults.
- A file with no readable pages is refused, and your current comic stays exactly as it was.
- Undo now covers more changes.
- Changing the page size or margins can be undone, and your earlier undo steps are kept. Before, these changes erased all undo history.
- Adding, duplicating, moving and deleting pages can be undone with Ctrl/⌘ Z.
- Each page keeps up to 100 undo steps (was 60).
- The browser is asked to keep BlankComic's saved data when space runs low.
- After 20 minutes of work, a gentle reminder suggests saving a project file. Browsers can clear saved data, so a file is the real backup.
💾Saving and downloading
- File names keep Bangla, Arabic, accents and emoji. Only characters that file systems forbid are removed. Before, a Bangla-named comic downloaded as "comic".
- Big projects save reliably. The project file uses a fraction of the memory it used to, and the file format is unchanged. If a save still fails, a message tells you.
- Very large pages download safely. If a page is too big for 300 DPI on your device, you get the sharpest picture your device can make, and the message tells you the DPI. On iPhone and iPad, this keeps the image under Safari's size limit.
- A clear message when you're offline. If the PDF or ZIP maker can't load, the message explains why and lists what still works offline.
বাংBangla
- Bangla text looks the same on every device and in your downloads. Every font falls back to Noto Sans Bengali. The Bangla font only downloads when you actually type Bangla.
- A new font choice, "Noto Sans Bengali — বাংলা", for bubbles and text.
🖼️Pictures and panels
- A picture moves with its panel. When you move a panel, the picture inside goes with it. When you resize it, a picture that fills the panel keeps filling it.
- A panel with a picture can be grabbed by its middle handle again. The picture used to cover the handle.
- Margins and page size move everything together. Bubbles, text, pictures and drawings stay on their panel.
- Fill / Fit panel works right after reopening a project. It no longer shows "done" when nothing happened.
- Pictures no longer flicker when you select them or zoom.
✏️Drawing and resizing
- Pausing while you draw straightens only lines that are already nearly straight. Curves stay curves.
- Zooming a page with lots of drawing is smoother. The drawing is redrawn sharp once you stop zooming.
- With a mouse or trackpad, bubbles, text boxes and pictures resize from their left corners too. Touch screens are unchanged.
